Server Down! ;_;

Maybe the server is finally gone for good. At least then we can finally write this off as a good server we'll always remember fondly, instead of the shambling zombie it currently is.

I only checked this now, and it has been taken me a bit to put the server back on. Unfortunately, the host restarted... on a Saturday, of all days, and AGAIN, the login account for the map server disappeared! Meaning the server wouldn't work until I manually restored the missing entry in the mysql database x_x;

Meh, well, it's back up now.

Hmm, so it IS some sort of corruption (either packets or server memory) thing. Man, how will I fix that D:'

 EDIT: For the time being, I could just schedule a reboot when the apple thing happens :/

Oh crap!

DynDNS has really done it this time T_T;

DynDNS was the service I was using to attach hostnames to other IPs. I was using it in the past to setup a link to the forums (instead of the original forumotion url), and I was also using it to setup the hostname for the server.

It turns out that DynDNS recently became anti-free-users, and they have started removing features to force us to pay. One of the latest changes appears to be removing a long list of domain servers we could previously use for free. So, for instance, instead of mouro.game-server.cc, they would want me to use something like mouro.dyndnsfree-server.com unless I register to get the previous domain name back T_T

The worst part is, I used to connect to the server all the time using the game-server.cc address, which no longer resolves O_O; And I don't know the IP of the node, so I can't connect to it neither. The server is most likely still up, it's just that the hostname no longer resolves. ARGH!

I gotta search in my email archives to see if I can figure out the other hostname of the virtual server which hosted MouRO :S

Well, I sent an email to my contact at SiP, so I should hopefully have this resolved within a day. Sadly, I will no longer be able to use a neat hostname for the server in the client info file :S Maybe I should just put an IP there... which isn't a good idea if the server's address ever does change :<

No... it should be the same as before, the only change was the connection between the IP address and hostname. With the new clientinfo.xml there shouldn't be any issues, it should be the same as before... O_o
